Help rooted Bionic overheated and wont turn on

Sooo, im an idiot apparently i just purchased a bionic last Thursday and now im up shits creek without a paddle.:( My phone is rooted and it overheated. Now it wont turn on. I can plug it into a wall charger and nothing not even a white charging light, i can plug it into my laptop and i get a white charge light but nothing else.

I have no insurance (used to think it was a waste of money) and i cannot unroot it due to it not turning on. Will verizon be able to tell that i rooted it. I didnt change rom just had superuser. I know i voided my warranty but will they be able to tell if i send it in?

ummm, are you talking about a BIONIC or a DROID?

I've had the BIONIC since release day, and I have yet to see a white charging light....but my trusty old DROID has one right beside the USB port....

And yes, they can tell pretty easily that you're rooted.

Maybe its just your battery. If you can, get another battery by either buying it or borrowing it from another bionic user. If its the battery then you should be able to get a replacement. If it still doesnt work, then i would still try to use your manufacturers warranty. I find it hard to believe that just rooting a phone will cause a phone to overheat. Looks like a factory defect to me unless you did something to the phone like put it near a furnace or in one. Lol jk.

Also, personally I have never come across a thread or a post where someone said that a phone carrier or manufacturer declined to replace a phone because they found that it was rooted. Not saying it couldnt happen but you shouldn't be afraid to use your warranty.

If i plugged it into the wall would it not just turn on? It was plugged in when it turned off and wouldt come back on. I also had wifi hotspot turned on. Husband was playing COD MW3 online and he got pissed because he lost connection. I will try to see about the battery tomorrow.

Im freaking out about it being rooted and sending it in for warranty I dont want to spend almost 600 for a phone on top of the 250 i just spent on it

Yeah that'll overheat a phone real quick. I hope your phone didnt get nuked. Using a phone to tether so you can play online games especially games like MW3 is never a good idea.

If it were me I would ...
Remove it from the charger.
Open the back.
Remove the battery.
Replace the battery.
Turn it on.
If it did not power on ... take it back to where I bought it.
Try another battery.
If it was still failing ... request a replacement.

Thom's suggestion is a good one - try leaving the battery out for about a minute when you do that.

We aren't too cheap to purchase insurance, we have had it for years and years and have never had to use it. we have had two phones with insurance for over 5 years which is more than an actual phone, so we didnt see the point of having insurance anymore.

Im taking it to the store today to see what can be done if anything. I have tried EVERYTHING possible to get it to do anything and nothing. I'm pretty sure its fried.
