Root Rooted but does not tether !HELP!

So I rooted my HTC Incredible running Android 2.2 today. I used the Unrevoked3 method and installed the proper Hboot drivers. Right now, the phone indicates it is rooted (superuser is installed, and in Hboot it says S-OFF).

Now here's the problem. I cannot figure out how to make it tether (the only real reason I rooted to begin with). My laptop will recognize the wireless network from my phone (using Barnacle WiFi tether app) but it will not connect to it. Then after I shut down the barnacle app (because tether is not working) I have to restart my phone in order for data (3g internet) to work on the phone.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm getting very frustrated (now its been like 5 hours trying to debug it).

Thanks!

If you only rooted for tether, you wasted your time, root is not required to tether, there is a link on "how to tether natively" in the tips and tricks section:

Try the wi-fi tether app though:

Ps when data doesn't come back on the phone, you can just cycle airplane mode.

Pss, verizon is cracking down on tethering, so definitely use at your own RISK.
