Root rooted but still no space message.

Can anyone get me through my final stage...
Which Rom(with app2sd obviously) would be suitable for me... I don't want to change too far from what I already. When I started this I just wanted to store more apps easily.
I want it to be as stable as possible. I've never done this before so is there a step by step guide on actually putting a Rom on ur phone!!

Q1 - This section from the apps2sd+ FAQ
Yes but what ROM?

Q2 - This section from the rooting FAQ
How do I flash a custom ROM?

As so many posts start... I'm a real noob, so please be gentle. My question is... I 'believe' I successfully rooted my desire last night. Got super user app. I didn't make a gold card and I'm with Three Ireland. My problem is I still have 'low space message' and I'm told if I try to download an app I've no room... also a lot of apps are forced closing. I can't stress how simple replies will have to be.... next level up from computer idiot!!! Anyone any ideas?
not sure if you found the answer already but i had the same problem. at the moment i am trying something that seems extra simple.... application called ROM Manager... How to use free app ROM Manger: download it from Market, just make a backup of your SD card, launch the app, select the Partition SD Card option, restore all your files from the backup and that’s it.

Take it you missed the "DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER" sticky thread then?!
