I have a rooted DroidX running .340 stock no mods, themes, etc....I installed Droid2 Bootstrap recovery, installed the part1/part2 ZIP files, and rebooted only to get stuck in a bootloop (Just the "M").

I tried to SBF back to 340 using the Motorola utility in bootloader mode, and it failed saying that my phone wwas not compatible with the SBF that I was using (VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf). The phone got into bootloader mode phone (not clockwork recovery), and the moto utility saw things correctly, the driver was fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as now I cannot boot my phone.

is there a .596 SBF file to flash back to?

Thanks!

Did your phone say bootloader 30.04 and did it look like this?

OK, so I did nothing new other than try the SBF of .340 using the Moto utility, and it worked, although it DID take over 20 minutes to complete. After this, everything completed successfully. It completed and I was not rooted anymore, so I chanced it and did the PULL update from STATUS --> SYSTEM UPDATE, and everything went better than expected.

Now that I'm UN-ROOTED and on Gingerbread .596, how can I best root? What application will let me ROOT the Gingerbread OS?

You cannot root the OTA. There isn't a method at the moment.
If you want 596 with root you need to SBF to 2.340 then z4root, d2 bootstrap and do the two part zip files.
