Root Rooted EVO 2.2

ok so i rooted my 2.2 android htc evo last night with no problem now my question is which kernal and rom would be the best that u'd recommend? i also would need help in installing both if its not to much of a bother

one more thing, how do i go about increasing the battery life of my phone.. i used setCPU but the battery life seems about the same and if u know any info about overclocking? thank you very much an advance from a android rookie

I don't know what the point of a kernel is as I just installed a Fresh 3.2.0.0 rom a little while ago. Download a rom and put it somewhere on your sdcard.
1. turn phone off
2. press and hold volume down and press the power button while still holding the volume down button until you get to an HBOOT menu and wait for it to scan
3. choose recovery and press power button to select
4. I think you then have to wipe data/factory reset (I did)
5. I think you then have to wipe cache partition (I did)
6. choose install zip from sdcard
7. choose choose zip from sdcard
8. find your ROM and select it to install
9. I think you need to flash the radio and wimax at this point

is it worth it? what are the benefits of using the fresh rom?
