Root Rooted Evo won't teather

If I were you I would unroot by following the tutorial in the rooting for dummies thread and then reroot.

OK thanks for trying a few times alex. Sounds like starting over is the way to go... like wrap said.

When I rooted my phone the first time I had no idea what I was doing, still barely do, but all I had access to was my linux OS. There was no "one click root" for linux then. I ended up following some directions similar to the ones out for 3.3 now. I screwed it up. Not as bad as I thought though. I was walking around with a partially rooted phone for a few weeks. I never had s-off, and I didn't know where to start from to finish the process.

Then UR came out with a linux version. I unrooted, rooted, backed everything up and had a Fresh ROM in my EVO faster than I would have ever expected. I'd never go back to stock now.

Anyway the moral of my long story is start over. It worked for me.

Man why are u people putting this man through all this just use tye easy root program called visionary, just type it in google and it is a one click solution man, if u need to have the link literally send me a PM and i would let u know

Visionary is a partial root and it won't stick after reboot....even the guy that made the app warns against it's use. Doesn't sound like a very viable alternative.

Putting this man through what? Have you even read this thread? We are trying to help him resolve this situation... If you read the very first post you might be enlightened! They ran unrevoked and has S-OFF but now is unable to use any root apps and when he runs terminal, he gets permission denied when typing su. Wireless tether is not the problem now, its trying to get him back to either a totally unrooted state or fully rooted. Visionary is not going to help the fact that he has S-OFF and is unable to gain super user access. The person needs to unroot using either the RUU or the pc36img posted in the rooting for dummies thread before he does anything. And who wants a partial root program that resets every time you reboot? Wireless tether is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to rooting...

So i wanted to give an update to those who may have this same issue, and those who tried to help. I appreciate all your input.

Anyway i was about to go thru the process of UN-rooting, when i decided to try to load unrevoked3 one last time. This time i was at work when i went to do it and my work computer is running Windows 7 while my home computer is running Vista. I know it sounds crazy but this is the only thing i can think of. I tried to root via VISTA at least 6 times and stalled every time. This time i do it from a Windows 7 computer and it goes on the first try.

So now i am rooted properly and learned a ton more about Androids and rooting. I have titanium Pro that did a complete system backup, and now hopefully there wont be any updates anytime soon that mess up all my hard work.

thanks to all of you for helping!
