Root [ROOTED] New Evo weird question.

Got a brand new Evo today as my screen on my old one stopped working. Any way i was borrowing my bosses old one and noticed he was on 2.3.5. I left sprint with a brand new one and updated to 2.3.3. this seems odd to me, anyone else? What im getting at here i cant get newer roms for my phone without that type of android version correct? I have been tinkering for a couple months but no where does it say "must be 2.3.3 android version to work" lol. So im rooted, but cant run 2.3.5 Roms correct?

sure you can. they are plenty of roms out there that have 2.3.5. there are plenty aosp (android open source project) that are on 2.3.5. there a few sense roms that are on it as well. i think the going green rom has it, but i can't remember some of the others. you can get all of the updated roms in the rom/kernel sticky.

So your saying just because my android version is 2.3.3 i can just flash a 2.3.5 rom and be good?
 
You can flash whatever android version you want on there. That's how you update now that you are rooted. Don't accept OTA's
