Root Rooted, Now what?

Following SUroots guide to root was easy as pie :D

So now what?
I rooted because I fancied a tinker and wasn't that impressed with the standard HTC GB offering, in fact I didn't even try it such was my level of meh'ness

I may try a custom rom late on down the road but for now with the access I have is there anything that will let me delete rubbish such as 'teeter' & 'footprints'?
What's a good way of forcing apps to SD? I was using the standard unrooted "pm setInstallLocation 2", but I still ended up running out of room quick fast double time

Easiest way to get rid of that stuff is to flash a custom rom. Titanium can freeze these apps but its a bit temperamental and to actually delete them with a file manager you need to be s-off which is more involved than flashing a rom.

So have a look around, find one you like and flash it. Have a look in the zip file first and delete any files you dont want. Its also the only real way to solve you storage issues.

You'll never realise the power of rooting without a custom rom anyway!!

+4

Oxygen is super fast, and MIUI is super pretty. Choose what matters to you, find a rom the fits it.

I rooted trying to do what you wanted to. Didn`t take more than a couple of days to realize that it wasn`t possible without flashing a new ROM.

Couldn`t get EXT4-partition to run smoothly (probably due to a bad SD-card) and had a lot of truly odd behaviour from the phone.

Found Oxygene 2.2.1 with the oxygene r2 hboot-layout from alpharev - bliss!!! No need for EXT4. Superfast, battery-efficient, and loads of space for apps.

Flashing is the way to go...

i would not prefer the oxygene r2 table becouse it doesn't give you memory for installing zips through clockwork(talking about oxygen 2.2.1) and on the other hand if you have a lot of applications (probably games) and they all stay on the internal memory then you will fill it quickly but then again there are solutions so you can still live without the ext4 partition ;)

You can't flash radios that way with a small cache, but you can always use fastboot for that.

Not aware of anything else you can't flash from recovery though.
