Root rooted optimus V's internal memory fills fast despite 2nd part. & link2sd

I have a rooted optimus V with an 8gb SD card. My 2nd partition is 3gb.

Usually when I download a new app I can see the link2sd icon appearing upon installation, saiyng that the new app is being linked etc.

Yet, my internal memory fills up very fast and I see my 2nd. partition's (sdext2) usage always remains very low. Less than 1/4 of it's size.

And of course, as soon as I get the little triangle warning, incoming texts start being rejected and then I gotta delete a bunch of stuff and clear my dalvik cache. And still it takes a bit for it to realize there's space again.

Am I doing something wrong with the link2sd? The second partition was set as primary.

Thanks!

PS. Why don't you buy a new phone and replies like that... I mean if you have nothing technical to say, just abstain from posting.

First: You only need a 1GB-2GB partition for Link2SD to work.

Second: It's better to make the partition using the recovery, then change format on computer using Mini Tool Partition Wizard.

Third: You can not use more than 20% of the usable space on the sd card for the partition.

Note: The latest MiRaGe is the best and most secure of all ROM's made for the V at this time. It works great with the ext.3 format that the recovery formats the partition to. You just have to create the mount script once more after reboot when everything is set up and linked.
I have just over 100 downloaded apps. I still have 125MB of internal storage left.
As long as you keep the cache cleaned once a week and the RAM above 50% then the MiRaGe ROM is a monster.
Ovedclocking in the 800's is very doable (best battery life is near 480MHz-768MHz).

Note 2: I use SD Maid and Fast Reboot to keep cache clean and RAM up. Also I deleted all Preinstalled apps I didn't need with Link2SD to get more free RAM. If you want I can leave a list of those that are safe to delete in the MiRaGe.

Edit: my 2nd partition is 2gb.

Actually, I do mess with my computer a lot but have always been wary of screwing up my phone. That's why I haven't installed any other custom ROM besides the one at the time I rooted it.

Is it as easy as downloading the zip file and flashing it? I saw a few steps to take care of some issues after flashing. But it has never been clear to me if I can switch between roms by just doing the flashing or are there any other steps. Asides from backing up my apps and current rom.

Look in the All Things Root Guide sticky ^ top of forum. Go to Guides section. How to flash/install a flash_image, recovery, and custom ROM.
I use two apps to back up my apps. Root Uninstaller (I have the pro version), and Titanium Backup (I have the pro key).
Root Uninstaller backs up all apk's to the sd card, all of them. It never auto delete's any. If you get an update to an app, but the update is messed up, delete update and go to folded on sd card and copy old apk to root of sd card and install (pro version allows me to do it from the Root Uninstaller Screen without having to delete the bad one first). I use this to Install all those apps I need on the internal storage after flashing a new ROM. I have those apk's already on the root of the sd card so I don't need to go to the Play Store in case my data connection is weak (no WiFi).
After installing those I open up Link2SD and create mount script and reboot. Then select auto link in the settings.
Then I open up Titanium Backup and run the Batch operation "restore all missing apps and data" (the apps data).
I reboot then go back and use Link2SD to delete all those pe-installed apps I don't need.
Done.
From old ROM to fully functional new ROM with all 100+ apps installed (exactly where I had them in the old ROM because I use Launcher Pro) and or linked takes just under 15 minutes.

I currently have the same ROM backed up 5 different times because each backup has a different full-on super deep theme that requires me to flash the last part from the recovery.
All I have to do now is just go to the recovery and restore the color I feel like for that week ( 5 minutes max), instead of having to wipe and start with fresh ROM install, etc., etc. (15-20 minutes).

Any way- If you have an 8GB sd card.
you should only have a 1.5GB partition.
Also make sure you make the partition using the recovery.
Download from the computer "BootIt". This will properly erase the partition from the sd card (Mint Tool Partition Wizard or any program like it will bork the sd card if you try to erase partition with it). Say yes to fixing header.
Once done with BootIt put sd card in phone and choose the erase option from menu/settings/storage.
Then reboot phone and check if it put the proper folders on the sd card. If yes procede to recovery and make 1.5GB partition (the revovery uses the ext.3 format), then put card in computer and reformat partition to whatever the ROM you installed likes best.
Note: Froyo ROMs do better with FAT32.
Most Gingerbread ROMs do better with ext.4.
ICS and Jellybean do better with ext.3.

The latest MiRaGe is a monster with ext.3. My apps have practically no lag when opening. This is better than any other ROM for the V.
I've tried them all and the MiRaGe with an ext.3 and Link2SD is the best hands down.
Hope all this isn't to much for you, but I believe in "more info is better ".

Oh yeah very helpful thanks a lot. One more question, couldn't find if there has been any new changes to the video camera in MiRaGe. I was reading there had been issues but the trail stops cold with nothing lately. I kind of like to have my video camera ready at all times because where I live is plagged with shitty drivers. Ironically most teenagers with cellphone in hand at all times.

Don't know as I've neved usef the video camera on any ROM, stock or custom. No base to go by.
It's so easy to flash a ROM or a backup that it would be quicker just to flash and check out the video camera.

Note: When flashing a backup do the same wipe procedure for a new ROM install.

Been using MiRaGe for 6+ months now, and never had any issue with the vidcam in my uses. Not sure what 'issues' you're referring to, but if you could provide the source of your info that would help.

I just noticed something, do you always just troll around throwing sarcastic, condescending down looking replies?

"Not sure what 'issues' you're referring to", didn't I say there's no audio when I record a video?
