Rooted phone (no ROM) Jelly Bean Update?

I think I've received notification of the new Jelly Bean update. I tried last night to download and install it, but anytime I've tried it has 'failed to install'. I don't know exactly if this IS Jelly Bean (I didn't realise it would be available yet) - but is the reason why it WON'T install because I have rooted my phone??

I only rooted to gain access to get rid of bloatware, not too bothered yet re custom roms - would this stop the update from installing properly???? :(

My phone asks me to try again via Kies - god, do I hate that damn software

ps, my phone is GT - I9100, with o2, if that's important

I doubt it is Jelly Bean as it's just now being released to the S3.
Do you have a custom recovery installed? Generally it's one of the easiest ways to stop OTA (or in this case Kies) updates.

Sorry - I'm being thick - I'm not too sure what you mean by custom recovery :o I used Odin to root the phone but I have done nothing else since then.

I did just read this morning that the update was coming "Sept - Oct", here

The update is around 67mb. Would this even be big enough???

You cannot, I'm afraid, update a rooted phone via OTA or Kies. See post #1, here.

Jelly Bean is scheduled, allegedly, to commence rolling out to s2's sometime in November.

I would guess that what you have had is an ICS update which you can download and flash using Odin as per the above link.
