Rooted S2, but can't rename or delete camera sound files

I'm trying to kill the camera sounds and when I try to rename the files to .bak, the they all remain as .ogg files. I tried to delete the related camera files but without success.

I've tried ASTRO, Ghost Commander and Super Manager and got the same result.

The .ogg files are locates in /system/media/audio/ui/

You have to enable read/write permission for /system. It's read-only by default.

I renamed all the camera sounds, plus the start up and shutdown wave files.

How do I activate this in my rooted sgs2 as I cannot edit any .prop files in the system using astro or es explorer....?
