Rooted stock

Hey guys,
I request your advise on this. M a newbie in rooting and flashing. I have tried two ROMs so far. What I felt is, eventhough there are more customizations possible in some areas, than when using a stock rooted firmware. there seems to be some functions missing too, in the custom roms, rite. And not as dependable always as a stock ROM. May be I am too new to find tht perfect custom ROM.
What I would like to know is. If I use a rooted stock firmware, suppose LPG. are there possibilities where by I am able to alter the looks of the UI. Like the kitchen pro app in check ROM, where it's easy to download and install many components(themes, dialers etc etc ) I found out about the jkay deluxe app and have purchased it. It's really good. But it's only for customizing the toggles and lockscreen etc.

Have a look at the NEAT ROM, v2.3.2, full version, (not the Lite one as this has apps removed), as this is deodexed and pretty much stock. There are a variety of mod's for it to flash separately.

You can also add even more mod's to tweak it to SGS3, here.

The NEAT ROM is also compatible with JKay framework and DeLuxe Settings.

I suggest grabbing a coffee, tea or beer and reading through them thoroughly and carefully before deciding.

this is wat I have understood. Please correct me if wrong.
All stock ROMs are odexed, apart from jkay, no tweaking can be done on them.
Only deodexed ones can be tweaked. And only custom ROMs are deodexed.

Stock ROM's are odexed.

JKay is not a ROM but a framework and comes as odexed and deodexed.

Both odexed and deodexed ROM's can be tweaked with mod's, etc:

thanks. was checking out NEAT rom. well it looks very similar to the stock rom rite.
the mods possible. i see the battery mods, big caller image, 15toggles, ics lockscreen and few more. doesnt this support themes? been hearing about the 'vertumus theme'. how do i install it.
basically what i have in mind is a ROM which is like the stock(where all the given apps and things, function as intended) but at the same time is visually different from the boring stock and lots of mods possible.

Probably by reading the installation instructions in post #2 of the vertumus thread, here. Cunningly disguised with the heading:-

"INSTALLATION UNIVERSAL PACKAGES (VRTheme)"

thanks mate.
just flashed the ICS domination 4.5 theme. really nice work. just a tad sluggish sometimes, i feel.
this was what i wanted to try. theming the stock look. and with Jkay adding lots of customisations. are there other themes that are as good as this one?
there are various mods posted along with it. apart from these mods, would i be able to find other mods(for eg in resurrection remic 2.2 ROM, there is a second line of dock bar which could be activated below the actual dock bar icons).
