Root Rooted user battery life

What are you guys getting as far as battery life? I remember when I first got this phone and it was unrooted it would stay on 100% battery life (measured by BMW) for hours after unplugging it.

Nowadays after 20 minutes of screen on time I'm already down to about 90% and I don't know what the issue is. I've used gsam battery monitor , betterbatterystats ext and everything looks pretty normal. I know earlymon gets about 8 hours of screen on time but at the end of the day I have to charge and I'm only around 1-2 hours screen on time.

Changing roms doesn't seem to make a difference and I've tried doing power cycles with no effect. I know there are huge variables like signal strength, but can anyone think of something I may be missing?

This nonremovable battery is still my only gripe.

Ugh i just realized, and i am assuming you can confirm, that this device is completely enclosed, meaning, no removable battery, which stinks.

Have you tried using Juice Defender, i tried it and can only report good things about it :)

Yes its completely enclosed.

Bad battery life is no problem if I can just swap it out for a fresh one. :)

If I get home after a long day at the lab and a buddy calls to go grab some drinks I used to just toss in a new battery and be on my way. Now I've got go text the family/significant other and let them know where ill be because I know the phones going to be dead before I make it home

Admittedly I've never tried juice defender. I'm generally against apps running in the background to manage battery life, but at this point ill give it a shot

With my Evo LTE My battery life is better than my OG Evo. My best battery performance was when I was running CM10 on my LTE. I cant give you specifics but I do remember that I could get a day and a half (sometimes two days) of regular use on a single over-night charge. I also got pretty good battery life while running JellyBomb on my LTE as well. I dont use any battery apps or anything fancy.

I definitely agree that its better than the og battery life.

I'm going to ruu to stock and see if I get that great battery life I had back.

Juice Defender, etc etc, not used.

Latest Viper4G tweaks is threatening to knock that down some, maybe.

What does your radio vs power look like? Any changes on that front?

Running MeanROM 6.4 with the help of Tasker I regularly get 36 hours. Unplug one morning and recharge the next days night before bed. I have profiles that only allow data connections when the screen is on and shuts almost everything off and silenced overnight. I've had my LTEvo for about a month.

My typical usage is several texts, periodic websurfing/news reading, a call or two and if I get bored maybe a game.

I just RUU'd to go stock unrooted for a few days, so unfortunately I wont be able to give a report on that for a day or so while it rebuilds its data.

If i am understanding the graph you posted, it doesn't really show battery drain being caused by low signal. That is what I would have intuited.

What caused the fluctuation in signal strength at the end there? Were you maybe running around the building during that last section? Weren't swinging it on a string, I wouldn't imagine... :)

That is what I was talking about when I said I put off trying the Venum rom. I wandered around half the day without using my phone yesterday, but I checked it periodically. It was hanging at 100 for the longest! Quite refreshing after some other phones that want to drop off 10% within a little while of taking it off charge!

Hope you get it straight! Which method do you think you will use to re root?

The swing is pretty much the +/- 1 asu or so that I usually see - atmospherics, tower, who knows.

And it doesn't show any battery drain because I have a solid, good-enough signal. My battery drain there is from using the phone and running a bunch of apps.

I just opened Open Signal Maps to show the actual fluctuations but now it's fc'ing on me.

Need to find another app I guess...

ok, thanks for the info. I have never run an ruu, I thought it put you back to stock in the root department as well.

I don't know if this is the issue or not, but i have noticed if I don't have all the Google location stuff turned on that Open Signal will either do that or not work for me.

by the way, I like that battery monitoring app, I installed it for me!

Glad that is working out for you, looks like the terminology is whipping my behind though...

S-off =\=root

It's basically like an unlocked nexus where you can push whatever you want to the device

So you can either flash a rooted Rom or flash the required files
