This forum is the best place for help!

I am very new to smartphones and Andriod coming off a Casio Rock. (yes it was a flip phone).
Anyway decided to take the plunge and get the Commando. Need it for work where it can get wet or dropped. The Rock was a, Rock after being dropped many times, it survived.
What brought me here was that most of the reviews on the Commando had to do with poor battery life. Mine, even when new would not last the entire day. I'm not even a heavy user.

So I downloaded the latest SuperOneClick, unzipped the files and plugged in my commando. Other posts have said that it will not work in Andriod 2.3.3., but mine went very smoothly and finished with a rooted phone.
After it loaded it showed the SuperUser icon, then added the elite for $3. It gave me much more stuff like AdFreeAndroid.

The question I have is backup. I downloaded Titanium Backup and it wont load. Says its not installed on the system, even though in SU is shows its installed. Do I have to install it after SU is loaded?
When I would normally hold down the search button on the bottom right, it would load the BING voice something. Now that it is frozen, is there a way to change the command on that button to bring up google voice search?

Thanks in advance for the answers. It is a great place to find out about this awesome phone.

hmmmm.... I used the zergRush to root.

And the only way to make the magnifier glass bring up google is to switch your home launcher. download GO Launcher EX, ADW Launcher, or Zeam Launcher. All free on the market. test them out, see which one works best for you.

And when you go to the android market, does titanium backup show up as installed, and the link in the market has an open button and an uninstall botton? if it doesn't work when you press open, i'd uninstall, reboot, and install it again.

I loaded Superoneclick version 2.3.3.0, connected my phone hit root and it did its thing. Did not hang, pause or anything. When it was finished I had the Superuser icon in the phone. I used bloatware killer to remove/freeze the apps I no longer wanted and the phone is MUCH faster and the battery life has tripled.(or so it seems)

So I can download GO Launcher EX, ADW Launcher, or Zeam Launcher, launch them and try it, and then remove them??

I will give it a shot and see what happens.

Thanks

Holy Cow, downloaded the Go EX program and I now have a phone that is totally customizable! Works great. Now I just need to take some time and tweak it to my liking!

All I can say is WOW, very nice program!

Thanks again
