Rooted, Went CM 6, And My Hero Is Transformed

Using the Universal androot, how do i create nandroid? Is this something UA does, or does it take me to a screen. Ive searched the threads, sorry if i have missed it. Also, how do i do a recovery boot? Thanks for being patient with me.

I would do a recovery boot, then do a Nandroid backup from there.

So put into crystal-clear, noob-type terms: do a UA hard root, turn off device, press Home and Power for a recovery boot, then run ROM Manager to do a Nandroid backup?

Crap, I'm rooted, booted into recovery (I think), and running ROM Manager, but I click "Flash ClockworkMod Recover" and select "HTC Hero (CMDA)" I get an error message.

Wait...hey, it worked! Third time was the charm. :)

When i root using ua and reboot into recovery, my screen shows a phone and a red triangle with !. ?????

Edit:I also rooted using ua and ried to flash clockworkmod recover and kept getting error. didnt fix it after 3 times.

The easiest way I have found to do it is to, starting with the phone off, simultaneously hold the "down volume" rocker and the on button and keep them both depressed. The phone will go into the boot mode. From this point hit the Home key, and a menu will appear. One of those menu selections should be a Nandroid backup. You can make Nandroids as well as restore them from this menu. When you are done, hit the back arrow and select Boot Phone.

I think this way has some advantages over doing the back-up from ROM Manager.

I have done this and get the black screen with a phone, triangle, and a ! in the middle. anyone else get this?

Happened to me, I let it sit there for 15 minutes (was at work), tried pressing volume down and power at the same time, nothing happened, was trying to take out the battery (couldn't remember how, only done it once when I got the device), and it booted up normally. Not sure why, whether it was the volume-down-power press or coincidence.
