Root Rooted?

ok well i followed all the instructions on how to root my samsung galalxy prevail 2.3.5. using odin and using gingerbread im very new to this ill explain how i did it in steps.
i made sure drivers were installed
i put the phone in download mode
i then connected the usb cord and started the rooting process my phone turned off and reset itself and went to the main screen.
super user is now on my phone but it doesnt show any apps or anything...
how do i check if it was rooted correctly.
it gave me a error when signing into my google market account and i went to settings/privacy/did a complete factory restore sd card and all it pulled up a boot scren similar to the 1 we see on the computer that asked reboot phone/and a few other options.
my phone works im just very confused on how this rooting works and if i did it correctly and how i can check.
 
A .)use terminal emulator and give command "su" .If $ changes to # then you are rooted .If it gives permission denied ,you arent rooted .
B.)use any rooted app like titanium backup to check if it was granted root priveleges or not
C.)root checker
download this app to check the working of root
 
yes i am also new to everything i downloaded free version of superuser and got it to ask for permissions when other root apps launch. tite backup is another good root app to have and link2sd .anyway im prettysure if you have root superuser will allow permission to other root apps if no root it will deni
