Root Rooting 4.2.2 One SV - LTE

I have spent about a day and a half struggling to get my phone rooted. I am at the moment stuck when I try to go into recovery from HBOOT.

I did read somewhere that CWM does not work with Android v 4.2.2 (on this forum), but cannot confirm this.

I have tried to load up the most recent TWRP file, but that also gets stuck.

Question 1.
Some people has said that I need to use something like "fastboot erase cache" to clear out I presume a cache of some form. Is that true?

Question 2.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to get the recovery to work?

Interestingly when I unlocked the bootloader using the process determined by HTC it erased pretty well everything on my main drive. Also my extra SD card seems now to have died.

My objective is to get rid of the bloatware.

Device reset clearing all data is when using HTCdev.com unlock is normal and warned about by HTC.

fastboot erase cache erases the /cache partition.

What TWRP did you try to install via FASTBOOT USB mode? (Your phone would have said that at the top of the screen.)

The TWRP file name was twrp-2.8.5.0=k2_ul.img
HBOOT says
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
K2_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.21.0000
RADIO-1.18.40a.00.05
OpenDSP-v13.2.0268.0620
OS-3.11.61.10
eMMC-boot 1024MB
Nov 7 2013,15:32:31.0

Well that certainly looks right at a quick first glance.

Suggestion - I recall some larger mods starting at 2.8.4 - maybe try TWRP 2.8.1 to see if it's a compatibility issue?
