Root Rooting .595

Since .595 won't get me to the OTA, I figured I might as well get it rooted. Thing is, I don't know if Gingerbreak would work or if I should just SBF and go from there. Anyone wanna confirm that Gingerbreak works?

Yep. Rooted my .595 no problem. Even if its having problems rooting .595 you can just flash the pre-rooted from MDW.

ive tried 10+ times and still no superuser app

@FragDroidX, how would i go about flashing one of the rooted versions over stock .595?

AFAIK you can't, not without Droid 2 bootstrap installed, and you need root for that. You'd need to SBF and get back up to .595 if you can't get yours rooted. I don't think there's anything rootable you could flash from stock recovery if you're already on .595.

ok, i was fearing that. i have already tried SBFing several times and it fails instantly for some reason. i dont know if it is the sbf file, its location, or my phone. any help you can give is greatly appreciated! im still fairly new to the x so im still learning.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!! took me long enough. now I just need to decide if i want to go on and go back to the leaked gingerbread and root or hang tight until the ota comes out.

thanks for your help!

There is no way to root the Gingerbread OTA yet and there is no way to know when ( or if) it will get root. I would just go ahead and install the .595 pre-rooted deodexed leak and forget about the OTA for now. Chances are that TBH will get us a pre-rooted deodexed version of the OTA soon after it comes out.

You can get it deodexed but not pre rooted. Some phones will keep root from previous builds but chance are you will have to run ginberbreak.

The .595 deodexed build comes prerooted. Never heard of anyone installing the deodexed one and it not coming with root.

I thought we were all just kind of assuming gingerbreak won't work with .596, but there's a chance it will, right? Or did I miss something with all these news updates, and we officially know the OTA can't be rooted?

Not that it matters to me, .595 works fine and has all I could want (except a front-facing camera, but I'm willing to bet the OTA won't solve that)

According to P3Droid .596 can't be rooted with GingerBreak. I forget his exact words but he posted it on Twitter.
