I am thinking of rooting my phone. I have an AT&T Samsung S5 Active, and it is unlocked, and running on T Mobile. Is it still an AT&T phone?

Find out the model name/number (Settings, About Phone) and ask in the s5 forum (or Active forum if there is one) I'd say is your best bet.
Just don't rush into anything until you're sure about what you're doing and are using the method for your EXACT model number.
