Root Rooting A Desire with gingerbread already installed

I updated my Desire going the official HTC gingerbread way but now with to root it, is this possible. Tried unrevoked 3 but was told my firmware was too new.

You need: revolutionary.io

Try revolutionary.io, then use Super Click

then use Super Click

No need for that - after Revolutionary either flash superuser zip or custom ROM from recovery, job done (see the links in Hadron's post).
