rooting after firmware update?

I've been searching the boards, but I'm still not 100% clear. I rooted my SGS2 with CF-Root. If I do the firmware update that Kies is currently prompting me to do, the phone will become un-rooted. If I simply root again with the same CF-Root as before, do all apps that require root continue to work as normal? Or does updating the firmware require re-installing apps again after re-rooting?

That's the news I was hoping for. I'm curious: if you don't root after updating the firmware, what happens when you run apps requiring root (such as Market Enabler, Root Explorer, etc.)?

You would probably get an error message saying something along the lines of this program requires root access.

OK, that was easy. Before rooting, Market Enabler would run, but had no effect. CWM failed to launch with an error message. But Root Explorer worked normally, as far as I could tell. I thought Root Explorer also requires root. I only gave it a quick check, so maybe it lacked functionality while my phone wasn't rooted.

I think root explorer will run but you wont have the ability to write in certain folders that require root.
