Root Rooting and flashing doesn't have to be hard

T.M.M.L

I have had my Fascinate for about a month, before I decided to do anything. I finally jumped into the deep end of the pool last night. For all those sitting on the fence, I say "Come on in, the waters fine.":p But as the saying goes, "With great power, comes great responsibility!"

Take your time people. First you have to read, then read some more, and just when you thought you were done with all that guess what...? There are countless posts of people who get their phones and immediately start deleting this and trying to flash that, all without any idea about what the hell is going on. I get it, Bing sucks and VZW-crapware is a pain, but if you go into rooting without a clue expect trouble.

Use the forum search. Just start reading posts. Then only after you've tried your best to locate answers to your question, ask someone. I can't stress enough about the fact that you have to read. There is a plethora of information available to you. Don't let impatience get you into a huge mess. There are also great people on site, (Saps and Ninsuj17):D come to mind because I've read their stuff the most, who are willing to help you out of most predicaments.

My experience went off without a hitch. Hell, I felt like I had studied for a college exam, only to take a second grade math test. But I was prepared like all get out for anything to go wrong. I had links to posts, this site and others, plus a ton of files already downloaded just in case trouble arose.

I would also say "Don't look for short cuts in the beginning." With little to no knowledge, one click answers aren't your best options. If your first words are "I've rooted my phone, now what?", for the love of all that is holy, stop from doing anything else.

Who am I...? Nobody, just a Android noob without many answers. Well, a Android noob with a freshly De-Binged, De-Bloated Samsung Fascinate running the DJ05 update, with JT's Clean 0.7, and Geeknik's Stupidfast 1.54 kernel.:p

Happy tinkering.

Wonderful testament. Like GI Joe always says knowing is half the battle. If everyone took this practical and pragmatic approach that TMML did we'd all be better off :)
