Root Rooting and flashing help

Hi guys,

Have decided to root my Desire as i'm getting fed up of the low space warning, i don't use sense (launcher pro plus) and want to be able to remove pre-installed apps etc)
Just got a few qu. before i foolow the step by step guide in SUroot's links (have read FAQ also btw).

Here is some info about my phone first from HBoot:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT - 0.93.0001

Its also unbranded and i have downloaded the latest RUU just incase. I take it i don't need to bother with a goldcard either?

I take it as it is PVT1 i don't need to check the erase size and i can ignore this section.

When i have finished rooting and checked it has worked, what should my next steps should be? i.e. when should i perform a Nandroid backup, titanium backup, ap2sd+, flash rom etc am bit puzzled on this and not really sure how to do them, so if you could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

I would be looking to flash cyanogen mod first as i want a gingerbread rom without sense and this seems a popular one. Is this an easy one to do first?

Cheers

Take a nandroid and titanium backup immediately. Decide what rom you want and read the root memory faq to learn the difference between all the options you need. Its all in the faq's and guides.

CM is easy enough except that there are a few things most Desire ROMs include that have to be added separately - a2sd and Google apps (e.g. market). Instructions are all in the CM7 thread at XDA, but people don't always read this, and then get very puzzled when things don't work.

It's always a good idea to read the first couple of posts of the thread for any ROM carefully to find out whether it has any particular requirements.

ok thanks guys, can you tell me step by step how you do a nandroid and titanium backup as it doesn't have this in your FAQ?
Cheers.

Nandroid
1) boot into recovery
2) select backup

Titanium
1) menu>batch
2) "run" backup of choice

Mid way through root. Folllowed you unrevoked method. All seemed to be going well. However when i run unrevoked it says it could not kill adb process. Nothing really seemd to happen after that, so closed unrevoked. What do i do now?

Just to check how should the phone be mounted, i have it on charge only, is this right?

EDIT: turns out it needed to be mounted as a usb device, seemed to work fine after that. Cheers guys.
