Root Rooting Captivate Froyo Update

Nope, still doesn't work

You've got to be kidding me....This is pissing me off. I'm trying guys....even checking other forums for alternatives.... It seems the whole signature part of this .zip package seems to be the problem, but I don't know why.

Everything that's included works, it's just the signature part.....I'll keep working on it....thanks for the quick response guys.....

Just let me know when you want me to test it out

I think the way I'm setting up the "update.zip", it's for phones that are rooted, which can't be the case here, because everyone is flashing Froyo now.... so everyone is trying to get root access.

I have to find out how to make it easy to attain, without setting it up like a .zip file that's meant for rooted phones....I'll continue to work....

I can't remember off the top of my head, but in the standard recovery mode, is there an option to toggle signature?

Not that I noticed unless I'm not in the standard recovery mode.

Do u think if I use parallels to boot to win 7 its a possibility?

I don't think so. I've never came across this issue before. I've worked on the Droid since last year and never came across this issue. I do see that in the manual upload there is a .bin file that has to be uploaded as well. I might have to implement that. It's an image file, which may be the cause of it not flashing.

OP Updated....I did it this way as well, but I know everyone doesn't quite have the knowledge of all this......yet ;-)
lol ya, but the long way works PERFECTLY for those that want to try, just type in the commands as listed (except on the push files where you need to do the directory... example adb push c:\android\su) oh! and dont flash the kernal to overclock the cpu... i does NOT work lol and if you used the one click lag fix app from market it gives an error and im still working on getting it working... to uninstall the bloatware easy app i could find in the market is Android Mate, delete the files (wont let you uninstall them) and restart phone for it to show they are gone. also dont do a full restore with titanium backup, it will put the eclair system files on the phone and some will do a constant force close error (specifically the actual phone files that are needed to make a phone call). The AT&T Address Book for those that use it may also give your problems took me about 6 syncs to get all my contacts back on the phone.

And I have been trying the updates as you posted them, none worked for me either, it runs a check before the restore mode actually pulls up, that check might have something to do with it.

Yeah it runs a verification of a signed .zip file. I didn't sign it properly. But I signed it properly now. I'll PM you with a link to it....let me know if it finally works... lol

Several questions...

Once this (update.zip) does work what are the advantages of using Froyo?

Atm, I am using Cognition and really love it. Should I go to Froyo?

Can I go to Froyo then load Cognition up once I am 2.2.

Do I need to go back to stock (away from Cognition) in order to use this update.zip?

Thanks for any help and thanks to Ronaldramsayii for what appears to be tireless work on these things.

As far as I know, Cognition is building a ROM as we speak based on JI6 Froyo update....If he decides to deodex his files, I'll be releasing a few themes for it. If not, I may just deodex them myself, and theme them anyways, unless I decide to do my own ROM lol.

In order to use this "update.zip" when it's officially working properly, you would need it on a stock JI6 ROM, so yes you would have to leave Cognition. But you can always go to his latest Froyo ROM after you flash this....

I also heard there's a lagfix not in ext4, but in ext2, but it still works pretty good. Still laggy a little, but there's a improvement.
