CFS and BFS are two different 'schedulers' that determine how system resources are shared between every running app. The 'Completely Fair Scheduler' does a better job of multitasking, whereas the 'Brain **** Scheduler' devotes more power to the foreground app, making it poorer at multitasking, but better for use with games or other intensive apps.

2WCR (2 Way Call Recording) is for people who want to record phone calls, which requires kernel support. Don't pick this version if you don't need it.

Long story short, CFS without 2WCR is the best bet for most people.

CFS it is then, thanks again :-)

Switching to a different kernel can increase performance and battery life to some degree. I would recommend it.

It's very simple, you basically just flash another .zip and you're done. You should do a ROM backup before flashing too of course, that's always recommended.

I wrote out instructions the other day, as it happens:

Hey! I thought you were taking a break? Go away! :p[/QUOTE

Just a quick one! How do you flash the zip? Not sure if I've done it right. Can you do it in ROM manager
What do you have to do?

Thanks in advance.

Boot into recovery, then select 'install zip from SD card', then select the kernel and install it. It will run for a few seconds and then let you know when its complete.

Remember to backup your ROM before you do it :)

Yeah, you flash it with ROM manager. If it worked, you'll see reference to lordmord under Kernel Version in Settings >> About Phone.

i'm testing my wifi connectivity and since i flashed the cm7 rom, my connection to my router is not as strong. I am less one bar. usually it's a full bar with the stock ROM and with Android Revolution. is there a fix for cm7.1?

my widget shortcut feature seem to stop working. when i long press any of the home screens the list of widgets does not come up. long pressing on a current widget has no affect either. i can not long press any icons on the home screens either. did i accidentally uncheck something?

If you're using the launcher that came with CM7, go to the homescreen and hit menu and there should be an option to lock/unlock the homescreen for editing. I guess it's locked at the moment.

oh man thanks! but unfortunately i had format and restored my phone. I guess I locked my screen without even knowing.

I thought it was the lordmod kernal with killersloth's script, other than that the combination was fine. now i have to flash the two again and recalibrate my battery.

also,
is there a reason why the Data and Phone signal indicator switches from Green to Grey? or is it just my phone. The color does not change with the Value changes of the Signals.

Right now my Wifi indicator is green and the radio signal is grey. They both can be grey or both be green.

glitch?

Yeah I was also wondering about this, this happens on mine several times a day, but I can still make calls and use the data.

It's deliberate. If it's green, you have a connection to google's servers. If you don't, it will be white.

should be ok to use this with cm7?

[KERNEL][15OCT]LorDModUE V8.0|BFSv404|ALL AOSP ROMS|2.6.35.14+|ASS EDITION - xda-developers

Cyanogen kernels: CFS

just want to be absolutely sure first :)

Yep, as long as you're using the most recent version of CM7 or one of the latest nightlies, it'll be fine. :)

one more thing, if you don't mind,

"- Flash the .zip. Do not do a factory reset or a dalvik cache wipe."

does factory reset mean the middle option?
just off the top of my loaf, i think it says "format cache/data"?
inbetween back up current rom and the dalvik cache thingy

It doesn't matter what option it means, because you won't be touching either. :p

You've installed CM7? It works and you just want the kernel? Place the LordmodUEXX.zip onto the root of your SD Card, boot into clockwork, select Backup & Restore, Backup, Confirm.

Once backed up, head to the main menu in clockwork and select Install Zip from SD Card, then Choose zip from SD Card and select the Lordmod zip file and again confirm. Let it do what it needs to, then hit Go Back and Reboot Now.

You don't need to wipe anything when flashing a kernel.

If you're S-OFF, you can try Gingerbreak?

[App] [26.04.2011][v1.2] GingerBreak APK (root for GingerBread) - xda-developers

Root and S-Off are separate things. It's possible they put it back to stock firmware, unrooting it, but didn't put it back to S-on.

The good news is that this makes your life easier :)
