Root Rooting Droid X

I have downloaded programs specifically for rooting my droid x and none seem to work and I enabled USB debugging mod as well.

Any links or input? I'm a avid user of the droid but don't know much technical jargon..

I also downloaded Liberty RAM. I read I'll need this after the root.

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!
 
Thanks, I tried z4root and visionary but there is no sucess..

Z4 had both options of perminent and temporasry root, tried both and nothing.

Curious if im simply doing something wrong or if I need to try another app or program.

I have the 2.2.1 droid operating system..
 
When you say you tried Z4 and nothing happened. what do you meen. It was stuck on the first thing? If so you need to force stop the program and reboot and try again.
 
Did you download Z4 and then copy it over to your SD card in your X and then use App installer? I just did this and worked like a charm.
 
sorry for lack of detail, there were two buttons on the app, perminent and temp.

I tried temp first and waited about twenty minutes. I rebooted and tried again.

So then I tried perminent root and did the same thing.

After all this is tried go uninstall an app that required superuser status like blockbuster and it didnt work..
 
Hey guys, I tried to uninstall then reinstall both programs.. And rebooted and nothing.

Now I will try to download some programs onto my computer and then root my droid that way ugh!
 
Ok i am now rooted, z4root worked!

I had to reboot the phone before unrooting. I'll look for some apps that I can download besides the therering!
