Root Rooting for dummies?

[angiembfl]

So I see different threads on how to root but they look like different versions. Since I'm new at this, never rooted before, I want to make sure that I follow the correct steps. So, I have the latest Ally update. Can anyone point me to the correct and easiest step by step for rooting? I want to root and then try Velocity since it seems like the most popular ROM.

Thank you, thank you!
