Root Rooting for the first time :X - DOs and DONTs - Help

I have read that but still trying to figure it out. I have already downloaded, Doomlord and rsd. I have also got motodx2 bootstrap, wugpacked, and the VRZ_MB870_4.5.1A-DTN-150-30_1FF_01.sbf and motorola one click root.. Like I said I am like new and i really don't want to screw it up or brick it.. Sorry, for all the questions and stuff..

That is where the newbie sticky directs you to for instructions to flashing your phone with a .sbf ROM. You don't need bootstrap if you simply wish to root your phone. You only need a .sfb file, RSD, and a rooting tool. Use RSD accourding to that link's instructions, then when you've reboot your phone and let it settle down a bit, go into settings>applications>development and check USB debugging, then you can run your rooting tool.

Thanks, I'm sorry i have a lot of questions. I'm trying to get this right so, since my phone already came with 2.3.4 i would use MotorolaOneClickRoot for v 2.3.4 and download the GB 2.3.4 sbf. Right. And if want or need to flash it back to stock i would flash with the GB 2.3.4 sbf. I want to be as smart as you guys that do this kind of stuff.

Just use the 2.3.4 .sbf file from the All Things Root sticky. If you flash the 2.3.3 it's just going to update you to 2.3.4 when you get your phone up and running anyway.

Ok.. I think i might be figuring this out. So, run MotorolaOneClickRoot for v 2.3.4 to root, since my phone already had 2.3.4. I bought it 4 days ago. So, once rooted would i use Titantium pro or what possiple something free to back up files. Then to back to stock I would use Gingerbread 2.3.4 sbf and then do a DATA wipe right. Then RSDlit 5.4.4 what would i use that for and what is a bootstrap recovery? I'm trying and about to figure this out.. Maybe one day I will be as smart as you guys..lol

If you're wanting to back up your apps before you flash your phone back to stock, then yes, root your phone, run Titanium Backup or AntTek App Manager to backup your apps with data, then Run RSD to flash your phone back to stock. Then root your phone again, re-install TB or AAM, and reinstall whatever apps you wished.

RSD is a computer tool. You use it to flash your phone back to stock. The SBF is just a copy of the stock ROM. RSD will put a copy of the SBF file on your phone, wiping out everything on your phone in the process. The result will be a phone like it was when you took it out of the box the day you bought it. It will not wipe your external sdcard, though.

Ok, I haven't rooted my phone at all yet. Just got it like 4 days ago and it came out with the 2.3.4. Do i just factory data reset my phone before i root it or just leave it. And then use the motorolaoneclick to root it.

Just go to settings>applications and check unknown sources, then continue into development and check USB debugging, then run the root tool.

So, the root tool is the motorolaoneclick v2.3.4 and that is it. Would i have to use AntTek app manager and file explorer to install the apks. Since, i can't buy the good one yet.

To re-install your app backups once you've gotten back to out-of-the-box stock, you'll have to root your phone again, install Titanium Backup or AntTek App Manager or whatever you're using, and it will show your backups once you run it. Re-install your apps with data. If that's the only reason you have to root your phone and want to unroot it once you're done, use Pete's Motorola Root Tools. It has the unroot option and works on 2.3.4.
