Root Rooting HTC Evo V

I have just upgraded from the triumph to the htc evo v. I have had the evo for a few days now and would like to root it. It has ice cream sandwich 4.0.3. I have seen threads for rooting gingerbread on this phone but none for ics. Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to do this or can point me in the right direction? Also, the steps you direct me too, is it relatively safe to do this?? I have seen threads on people who have tried rooting and now are having problems. Thanks for your feedback in advance.

Unfortunately, the EVO V is a different device than the EVO 4G (on Sprint).

None of the guides here will apply.
