Root Rooting Incredible running 2.2

I've seen several articles out there about rooting the Incredible, but they are all talking about rooting the phone as it stood on 2.1.
Where I stand now, I have the leaked radio update and leaked ROM from a week or two before the OTA release. I'm wanting to root the phone to get access to a few apps that I'd like to run, but I'd like to not brick my phone because of my ignorance.
Is there any difference in rooting an Inc running 2.2 at all? If not, does anyone have a specific route that they have taken that works the best (or route to not take)?

You can not currently root from 2.2. You have to root from 2.1.

Ok, then that raises a new question...
Is it possible to downgrade to 2.1 with the new radio updated (I don't see why not, but I'm just checking)?
Best place to get the 2.1 to load back on my phone?

Awesome, I was literally about to post the same thread as the OP ...

I thought I'd wait for the OTA 2.2 instead of rooting, but now that I have it I'm thinking I might want to just do it already.
