Root Rooting Nook Tablet Issues

When I attempted to root my tablet, my PC Installed Generic drivers for my Nook. As a result it won't let me install the drivers from the zip files from XDA Developers. Anyone know a work around for this problem? Thanks
 
Are you sure you have your NT in the proper usb mode?

If that doesn't work, try this:

Open device manager and choose view... devices by connection.

With your tablet plugged in, expand PCI Bus and find your USB devices. You should see everything that's plugged into your usb port. Right click on the defective driver and uninstall any questionable ones.

Then follow your directions to install the new ones, including whether you need to have it unplugged from usb before installing drivers (some say with it unplugged, some say plug it in first).
 
Thanks for the reply. My system simply won't let me uninstall the drivers even though I do have admin rights. My PC keeps telling me I already have the best drivers installed.
 
I've never seen a pc that wouldn't let me uninstall drivers like I described. Installing is a different story unless you do a custom install by choosing "browse". Once the driver is uninstalled, it should let you install.
 
I never have either. Not sure what the issue is but there has to be way to resolve it. Some on this Forum will know or I can find it SOMEWHERE on the Web. Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem on 3 different computers, I finally found a file for Nook Color ADB fix and it WORKED. What you do is run the adb fix THEN run Nook and Zerby and your DONE ;) If you need can't find the file via google let me know and I'll put it on my dropbox for you ;)

I was doing Indirect's method of unlocking the Nook Tablet and came around a problem.
This:

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
2014740130584009 offline

did your nook Tablet show up?
type Y for yes and N for no
Please make your decision:y
first need to make sure you didnt lie about it showing up, I also need to check
for root incase you want to run any updates!

whats up with that offline?
This msg shows up and then just stays there. No flash/install.
I watched the video, I unninstalled the drivers and installed again, still same thing.

I was wondering if anyone encounteres the same problem or have a suggestion/solution?

Yeah, it's a PITA. If you search this forum for my posts, you'll see that I had the same issue. I finally had to borrow an XP machine that had never had an android device attached.

I know this is kinda late, but here it goes: I bought an external usb card reader that handles the micro sd cards. I don't even have to wrry about usb drivers!

All I did was buy an external card reader for $15 at a local store. NO messing with local usb anything. Set it all up while the sd card is in the reader, plug that badboy in, and turn the NT on, Baddabing!

One thing I've discovered using this method is that you cannot change the partition size on the sd chip until you get the basic stuff installed. I've discovered if I change the partion size before I do any rooting, the NT won't even boot from the chip. Once the basic package is installed, then, and only then, change the original partition size (70MB) to whatever you need to get the other download packages copied over.
