Root Rooting on 2.2 and Overclocking

Hi, I've been interested in rooting my new Wildfire but found out that it's not possible to root on Android 2.2 Firmware just yet. I was just hoping to know whether someone has any information on how the root for Wildfire's on Froyo is going. Also, I'm wondering why do companies like HTC on the Wildfire lower the speed of their CPU down while by overclocking through a root you can reach up to 690 MHz safely? Thanks.

Hi yes you can root a wildfire on 2.2 but you need a shop or someone with a XTC clip to turn the S switch off so you can root. will attach some pics of my boot screen to show you
