Help Rooting problem with HTC Incredible

Hi there,
I'm new to this forum and tried rooting my HTC Incredible five times with no joy. Using unrevoked3, the continuous comment is "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?" I reviewed numerous threads and can not get past this challenge.
My phone's software:
Android version: 2.3.4
Build number 4.08.605.15 CL389630 release-keys

Any suggestions ?

We're here to help if you have any problems... But really it just looks daunting... If you take it step by step, you won't have any problems.
