Root Rooting Pros and Cons

ok so alot of people at my school have been asking me if they should root their ally or not, personally, i love it rooted. Although im pretty new to rooting i have made a lot of mistakes that i can post on here to help out other new people who have no clue what to do like me. but it would help if some of you veterans could post a few things too.

Pros:
custom roms that improve battery and speed
....plus both of the most popular roms are coming out with new versions soon...
over/underclocking to further improve either speed or battery life
downloadable themes to fully customize your phone
shortcut apps to help get things like rebooting done faster
the feeling that your out-smarting verizon :)

Cons:
voided warranty (although if something happens you can most of the time flash a stock ROM and/or un-root your phone)
the fear of "bricking" your phone
always having to reboot to add themes
deleting the wrong app which can shutdown your market (DO NOT DELETE GTALK OR THE STOCK MESSENGING APP)

Thats all i can think of hopefully you guys will have more, thanks!

Pros:
Ability to remove preinstalled bloatware to increase performance and storage space.
Ability to install custom ROMs and themes.
Ability to do things with the phone that aren't possible out of the box (tethering, etc.).

Cons:
Never satisfied with what I got which leads me to always 'play' with the phone that causes me to end up wasting hours of time I could be spending doing more productive things with my life. :)

good point i totally forgot about tether even though its on my home page haha and i havent gotten a kernel panic yet what happens? i just stay safe in the high 600s

I don't know the technical term for it but your screen goes black and says a kernal panic has been generated then it shows a bunch of numbers and letters and says press any button to reboot

It's a failsafe so your phone doesn't overheat or try to process to much data and fry your cpu. When it reaches a point that it feels overwhelmed it will go to a black boot screen telling you all the technical details of the crash and why it happened etc., but I don't know what it all means. Then you can press a button to reboot but a lot of the time it takes 5 or 10 seconds before it reboots. Also a lot of people don't receive kernel panics unless they have a custom rom that can handle speeds over 729.
