Help rooting question for any s3

im gonna root my phone with route 66 method which is located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687

what i want to know is do i still need to get a supersu .zip placed on my sd card to flash or does this method go ahead and add it for me i would be asking this over there on xda but i cant get account do to me only having tmobile internet

Superuser isn't being used to flash the pre-rooted ROM, so don't see why you would need it on the SD card. I'm guessing the ROM will come with it already installed, if not, you can just download from Play.

I would assume that the superuser is already included, as it does not say to download it specifically. I have only rooted 3 phones, but I have not had to get it by itself.
Do you have access to YouTube? If so, I would recommend watching a couple video there for rooting the S3. I found them extremely helpful.
Good Luck.

Why not use the toolkit? One-click solutions for nearly everything involving the GS3.

I strongly recommend the Toolkit since it takes user error out of the equation and prevents a brick. There are several options for root method within it. Flash counter doesn't matter as there are also one-click ways to remove it.

The general rule is, if you are staying on the stock ROM, you must flash Superuser. However, if you are flashing a custom ROM, it's 99.9999% certain it will come with Superuser installed.

I do recommend using the Toolkit though, that's the tried and tested method.

Agreed- don't worry so much about the flash counter- you can root with the toolkit without having to flash a new ROM & reinstall your apps, copy back data etc.

one last thing will this way of rooting allow me to keep baseband version t999uvdljc?also will it allow me to get ota update as if my phone was never rooted? sorry for asking so many things

i want to stay on stock so do i need to flash supersu useing rootkit or what?lol

Not sure about the baseband question. Why is this baseband so important?

If you stay with the stock ROM you might still get OTA updates but you really do not need them. Plus, if you take an OTA update after root you will probably lose root. This is why I prefer to load a ROM that blocks OTA updates.

Just adding to what you've said here...

Radios must be flashed independently generally speaking. Root has nothing to do with your radio. All it does is flash an insecure bootloader and provide root.

Yes, you can still get OTAs when you're rooted, also generally speaking. If you flash a custom recovery, you can't get OTA.

Triangle Away is an app in the Play store. This removes the Flash counter.

ok what is radios and do i need to do this if i just want root?i dont want custom recovery/rom i just want root so i can tether again with out having to drop my plan down

Baseband = Radio. Basically interchangeable term. All you need to do is follow the instructions and it will give you a quick and easy root. Select the options you want and go. It works very efficiently.

You can't install OTA updates with a custom recovery AFAIK. You'd need to download the zip file for the OTA and flash it manually.

isnt it true that even if youre only rooted, if u search for an OTA or use Kies, itl just say youre phone is "modified"?
Im not sure but it doesnt matter much. U can still flash official updates if and when u want them
EDIT: sorry, u WILL still get updates as normal if u only root :)
