i rooted my phone a couple of months ago and i have a feeling that the 2.3.6 update removed the root from the phone. if i attempt to do the same root i did before, will that cause any problems or do i have to unroot it first then try to root it again? if so, how do you unroot the transform ultra?

Hey, yes the ota update unrooted your phone. You do not need to unroot but your best option in my opinion is to odin cwm onto your phone and either flash a new rom or flash the root package made by bads3ctor. Please search for tutorials within this subforum for instructions as there are specific steps you will need to take after flashing cwm onto your phone when dealing with 2.3.6.
