Rooting Question

Before I root my phone I had a couple of questions. Should I or shouldn't I update to jellybean first? If I'm going to install a custom rom wouldn't it make sence to just leave the ICS on and root from there?

Actually it all depends on what your needs are. If you are wanting a custom Touch Wiz JB, then you need to have the stock TW JB first to have the correct format. Samsung added in a /preload partition. What ROM build do you have now? If planning on flashing another ROM, it is important to read and follow the instructions in the OP for that ROM exactly. The recovery is tied to the kernel on this phone and is not a stand alone thing.

Okay you are on the latest release of ICS. If you are planing on going with an AOSP ROM like Cyanogen Mod, then you can go from there, rooting and getting the files needed to flash the ROM. If going to a Touch Wiz JB ROM then flash a stock TWJB first (available already rooted).

You can get it here. choose either Rooted of non rooted. The exe file is a self extracting configured installer with ROM in it. The tar md5 file is just a ROM and needs Odin to install.

Can this phone be flashed to metro pcs? I don't get signal at all with boost. Only 4g internet works. 3G doesn't work & all calls get dropped within a minute. I spent 300 on this phone last November, only used it about 3 moths... I just have music on it & I take pictures & videos with it. I'm currently using an lg motion.

will using this give me the yellow triangle?

The one click doesn't trigger the yellow triangle. The yellow triangle gets triggered using PC Odin. You can get the app triangle away to get rid of the triangle if you triggered it and don't like seeing it. Also if you use the one click to root, you can then get mobile Odin to flash a recovery kernel to give you a CWM type recovery. Mobile Odin does not trigger the triangle either..
