Rooting Question

I have a GS2 with ICS FL24. My charging port doesn't work. Is there a way to update and root the phone without using a computer (because the usb port doesn't work)? I have used the one click update before and wish that I could for this phone.

I have a stand alone charger with three batteries so I always have a battery in the phone one in my pocket and one on the charger. Is there a post on how to use the framaroot app or is it pretty straight forward? Where do I find the app? Is there a way to upgrade to JB with out the USB port?

It is pretty strait forward.

[ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click apk to root some devices - xda-developers

Once you have Root you can do things like download busybox etc.
It is a few loops and hurtles to get to JB from ICS without the usb port but yeah, you should be able to.

Mobile Odin, then use it go put in a recovery kernel, then use the recovery kernel to flash the modem (Mobile Odin can't do modems on our phone), then use the recovery to flash the ROM. This is all a little more critical that you flash to a ROM that has a recovery kernel like Project X etc, because if something goes wrong and you can't boot up fully you need the recovery (which is tied to the kernel) to recover from that, due to you not having a working usb port. So following the instructions for the ROM's OP is very important.

Not having the USB port as a fall back is like walking the tightrope without a net.
