Rooting same as running your phone always as root?

Hello all. I was wanting to know if rooting your Android phone is the same as running a Linux based OS as a root or superuser?

If yes this is VERY dangerous!!!

Thanks.

SU permission is granted on a per-app (or even per-instance) basis. Only those apps that you as user allow to run as SU will do so.

Yep. You can grant apps SU permissions and get SU access in terminal apps.

Ok, I understand now. So you can grant apps SU permissions on an app by app basis like Windows' UAC. That makes more sense. I was under the impression that when you "rooted" a phone it always ran a root account.

Thanks.

ok.. so now I want to ask about the other side of this discussion..

why??? why is it a problem.. why is it sooo dangerous?

(not being silly... I really am interested)

May be because any application will be able to access the entire phone system.

well that is what we do..when we "allow" it to do things... ever read the installation screen right before it starts? sometimes we give it full access to a lot of stuff.
