Root rooting soon, efficient way to back up the "People" app?

Wanting to root soon.

What's an efficient way to back up the contacts that I've stored in "People"? I want to restore them and only them. Not any of the FB and Gmail contacts that I went through such hell to get rid of.

I'd like to know this too. are you supposed to do any type of back up in case you mess something up?

you're not wiping when you root. your phone will stay as is when you root.

Isn't there a way to create an image if the exact state of your phone so is you mess something up you can go back to a known state....kind of like a restore point on windows? ?
