Root Rooting/SuperSU Failed...

So,

I decided to root my M8 (AT&T) and it worked, for the most part. The only thing that didn't work was SuperSU. Many of us have probably tried the video on YouTube from TheUnlockr and had the same issue with an out-dated SuperSU.

Looking around, I found the recent stable version of SuperSU and decided to try and install it from the recovery start-up screen (holding power and volume down until it starts up in to the blue menu) doing this:

1. Downloaded v2.46 from the source developer
2. Did NOT extract and placed the zip file in the root folder on my phone.
3. Turned the phone off and pressed volume down +power until it loaded to recovery.
4. Clicked Install and chose the v2.46 file
5. It failed.
6. Cleared the cache/dev-something or other.
7. Installed the original supersu.zip file.
8. Rebooted the system.

Since then, after the Upgrading Android apps 1 to 236, it loads to the main screen, unlocks and continues to show the "Unfortunately, AT&T Ready2Go has stopped." I click "OK" and it just keeps popping up. No apps or folders show up on the home screen. And when I manage to get in to my settings, I scroll down and click Apps, and NOTHING shows up on the Downloaded OR On SD card. So it looks as though I have NOTHING installed. But the phone will boot up fine.

Thread chasing and forum hunting has done nothing but confused me. So... I hate to ask this, but I need to be spoon fed on how to fix this. All I want is for the SuperSU to install and WORK. No crazy ROMs or programming, just rooted and a functioning SuperSU.

Thanks in advance!

Your rooted right?
If so you can download this from the play store:
FX Explorer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.fx&hl=en
And the root addon: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.fx.rr&hl=en
Tap on FX Explorer and then System>>System>>App.
This is where you can start deleting unwanted apps.Be sure to do a backup before you start deleting app.
In case you delete one you need on the device.

I don't think I'm making my point clear. My screen shows NOTHING when it's fully loaded. The AT&T Ready2Go continues to stop, I keep clicking ok, and it keeps coming back. Nothing shows up on the main screen except for the wallpaper. If I drag the top down, I can get in to settings. But again, if I get in to the Apps folder, it displays that NOTHING is downloaded and NOTHING on the SD card. I'm not sure what downloading those explorers and root addon is going to help me if I can't even access the GooglePlay Store from my phone.

Sorry I misunderstand what you meant in the OP.It seems like your Launcher is missing.
This is why you can see the AT&T app and the settings menu.

Maybe I worded it poorly. In that case I do apologize. I don't see the AT&T in the settings menu. After I clear the "such and such has stopped" message, I have to quickly get in to settings by dragging the top down, and clicking the sprocket. Once I'm in there, I scroll down to Apps, click it, and nothing shows up in the Downloaded tab, and if I swipe right to display "On SD Card" nothing shows up. Once I click the home screen button, the "such and such had stopped" error keeps popping up repeatedly.

I'll see what I can do. The process they show doesn't support S-ON, which my phone is still S-ON. So it looks like I need to get S-OFF before I can do it.

The unlockr instructions are hopelessly out of date to begin with and if you used their download links that's half of the problems.

You want the latest TWRP, installed via fastboot -

https://dl.twrp.me/m8/twrp-2.8.7.0-m8.img.html

And the latest SuperSU.

If you really want to take your s-on phone back to stock, go to fastboot mode and say from your pc where fastboot is installed -

fastboot oem lock

And install the official HTC RUU following the manual install instructions -

http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-att/news/

I've already got TWRP installed. Attempted to use the latest SuperSU, but when I attempted to install it, that's what started my phone acting a complete fool. I'll just attempt to take it back to stock and use the "from the pc" options. EarlyMon, I may request more of your help with this tomorrow as I am hopelessly over-my-head with this. Thank you in advance.

The issue is not if you have TWRP - I've helped a couple dozen people recover from unlockr instructions so I got that (see our M8 rooting forum).

The issue is your TWRP *version* - it matters a lot. ;) :)

Alright.. I've got TWRP v2.8.7.0 and SuperSU v2.46(stable). So I need to practically do this process all over again right? I'm wondering if I can use Hasoon2000 all-in-one software again, or should I resort to the command line? I'm gonna need help if that's the case.

Um... I think I may want to just restore my phone to stock. I plugged it into my PC and here's what showed up. Now, when I bring up TWRP, it shows more than that.. which is interesting. I think I'm better off restoring it, then trying to root it again.
