Root Rooting The Droid Incredible..Is it still worth it?

When I first got my HTC Droid Incredible, I rooted that baby right away. I was really proud of myself. Then when the updates for froyo came and I didn't unroot...I ruined my update. This caused me to kinda fall out of the whole underground modding scene... Now that I have a brand new (well refurb...) Dinc, would it be worth it for me to use the unrevoked 3.3? Are there really good roms for froyo? Thanks!

Most of the activity is with Gingerbread or Gingersense ROMs for the DInc these days. Check out the ROM section of this subforum for more information.

IMO, it is worth it just to get Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Incredible has some of the strongest dev support for phones on the market. And ROMs have had a full year to continue development.

Definitely check it out. :)

I am going to move this to the all things root section, you should get more answers there and also can check out what ROMS are out.

If you're looking for a ROM based on the stock 2.2 ROM, here's a few suggestions.

Liberation - stock, bloat removed, minor customization to enhance function without interfering with the appearance, speed, or stability of stock Sense. Available in odexed and deodexed versions. See sig for link.

SkyRaider - the new 4.x updates are finally based on the November OTA (updated Sense apps), and include some features from newer versions of Sense. Some users report stability issues, but that's going to happen when you customize the framework.

There are VARIOUS other 2.2 ports from well respected ROM developers (I'm a mere hack compared to most of them).
