Root Rooting Trouble - Help appreciated

Hey everyone, hoping you can help.

I had 2.2 that was rooted with Z4 root. I did an Over The Air (OTA) update which brought me onto gingerbread. I was one of those who was unaware that my phone would no longer be rooted.

I finally got the time today to attempt to go back to 2.2 so I could do the process the correct way to have a rooted gingerbread phone.

I followed Droid SBF instructions trying to put 2.2.1 System Version 2.3.320 on my phone with RSD_Lite.

Bootloader 30.04

Upon completion my phone doesn't get past the motorola logo when trying to boot.

What should I do from here?

Thanks.

hey bud, welcome to AF, i moved you to all things root.

what you have to do is remove the battery and boot to the stock recovery

simply put the battery back in

hold home+power
when it powers on release power, but continue holding home, until you see the exclamation mark

from there on froyo hit the search key

on gingerbread hit both vol up and down rockers, then wipe data and cache and reboot.

now you can root gingerbread, we have the tool in the sticky above, you didnt have to go to froyo to get cm7 gb, cm7 with gb kernel is the best you can get right now. so you may want to sbf one more time and try it that way.

Thats for your response, your last part was a little unclear to me as I do not understand all this techy lingo.

Can you point me to the direction of the SBF file I need to download and use RSD lite to put on?

EDIT: I wiped data and cleared cache then tried to reboot. Im stick getting the same problem. I am seeing the red motorola sign and it's just stuck there. Not even getting to the droid part...

Any idea's? Should I try a different SBF file?

Thanks again.

There is really no need to stay on 2.2 unless there is some ROM that you absolutely have to have that only runs on 2.2. Gingerbread is easily rooted using Pete's motorola root tools and there are plenty of great ROMs. Follow the guide as mentioned above and you should be good to go.
