Root rooting trouble

I am trying to root my phone using click root, but when I got to zadiag it failed to install the CDC serial driver as a result of timeout. I deleted the app click root installed to try again, but now step 1 won't even work. It just says "C:\android\platform-tools>cd C:\android\platform-tools

C:\android\platform-tools>adb wait-for-device shell"

Help?

Turn off diag mode and try again.

Install the default lg drivers

How do I turn off diag mode? Google just gives me either how to enable it or some stuff about PCs.

And I already downloaded and TRIED to install the drivers, but four of them always fail. How do I get them to work?

The diag mode for click root is enabled/disabled with an app called Mirnova. I know you said you deleted it, but there are two parts to it, so as long as you didn't delete both of them and kept the important one you should be able to redownload the libraries and try again.

If you can figure out the drivers and get it to adb, then you can patch it all up. Try using adb while in recovery mode. If none of that works out, then hit me up on teamview.

ummm, about deleting both of them...

and i'm not sure what you mean about figuring out the drivers and getting it to adb.

Also, what's teamview?

Where are you getting "Mirnova" from? The menu to launch the diag mode is opened by an app called "LG_OE_DiagMode". That app uses libraries that are downloaded by another app called "Ministro". There is no mirnova.

The exact same thing happen to me. Uninstall all the lg drivers from the control panel and install this driver only LG VM696 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA
Click Software Update and Drivers then click Download. Restart the One Click Root and you should finish Step 1. Happy rooting and Happy Labor Day.

P.S. Make sure the One Click Root and the others aren't in a subfolder. Make sure they reside in C:\android\platform-tools like so http://i.imgur.com/oGL9D.png

Well, only two of the drivers failed this time:D However, I still failed step one, and I am fairly sure I am doing it the same way I did it when it passed before. I have usb debugging enabled, it's on mass storage, and the the files look the same as the one in your picture. Should I just do a factory reset?

How exactly are you failing step 1? For me, the progress bar wouldn't budge at all with the text "etc...waiting for shell...etc"(probably a misbehaving driver). Start fresh with that driver, reboot, plug in your phone, let the other drivers install THEN open up One Click Root. This *may* get you past step 1. Not entirely sure what would cause the 2 drivers to fail.

This is what it says

"C:\android\platform-tools>cd C:\android\platform-tools

C:\android\platform-tools>adb wait-for-device shell"

And that's it. And I do let all the drivers install before I open one click root. Would rebooting before I install them really do anything though? I guess I'll try it. Would the fact that I deleted LG_OE_DiagMode before, after I got past step one the first time, but failed step two, have stopped me from doing step 1 again? I never took it out of diag mode when I uninstalled it, so could it still be in diag mode even though I powered it off multiple times since then?

Sorry, mixed that up with something else.

I think we need to go manual. The point of step1 was for the program to push the DIAG apk to the phone (we can do that manually). And the point of the step2 was to start a program called zadig(manually also). HOWEVER we need the step3 button to root our phone and it doesn't unlock unless you press buttons 1 and 2. And YES you're phone will be in DIAG mode whether you boot it or not.

I have an idea. We need to manually do steps 1 and 2. But BEFORE ANY OF THAT we need to do "Step0". I'll show you.

Prerequisites: Uninstall ALL the drivers from control panel(IMPORTANT! ANYTHING WITH "LG DRIVER") and install one driver I linked above. Connect the phone to the computer to install the rest of the drivers. Reboot.

Step0) Open up One Click Root and (with your phone DISCONNECTED) press step one. This will unlock step2. Now press Step2 and that'll unlock Step3. Now minimize the program, we will use it later. DO NOT CLOSE IT.

zach you may skip step1 since you're phone is already in DIAG mode. But you may do it just to make sure it's STILL in DIAG mode, just in case.

Step1) there should be a file in your platform-tools called "LG_OE_DiagMode-debug-unaligned" COPY this to your sdcard via a computer and put the sdcard but in your phone. Navigate on your phone to where you put that file and install that apk file. Now open it and press "Push Me" Now Enable Diag Mode.
Step2) Now open a .exe program in platform-tools called zadig this will install your needed drivers. REMEMBER, you ONLY need install:
CDC Serial(Interface 0)
LG Android USB Device(Interface 2)
LG Android USB Device(Interface 3)

Install/replace the drivers.

Step3) Now comes the sketchy part. Connect your phone to the computer and click step3 from One Click Root. If successful, you're phone will boot 2/3 times and One Click Root will exited automatically. Good luck.

Ok, I did what you said. It worked great, until after step 3 finished it kept turning off and on repeatedly. I pulled the battery, then turned it back on. Then it worked fine again, however when I downloaded "root check basic" it said I wasn't rooted.

However, Since this was the first time all the drivers got installed AND the first time zadig actually worked, I hoped running it like normal would work this time. AND IT DID!!! The thing is though, root check basic still says it isn't rooted, even though it worked great. Is it wrong? Was it bad to run click root twice?

Edit: Okay, installed superuser and I can use the the avast firewall, even though both require root access. So I am rooted?

Edit 2: Okay, after using root check basic with superuser installed it said I DO have root access!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH Ep1cBlast!!! YOU'RE THE BEST!!

So happy it worked for you! http://i.imgur.com/d7TBk.gif
Here is a thread that lists bloatwares that are safe to remove http://androidforums.com/elite-all-...ide-removing-stock-apps-updated-7-6-12-a.html

You can now change your boot sound and screen http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/565152-how-change-boot-animation-boot-sound.html
(thanks to kwknott)

P.S. You can't overclock yet because the stock kernel doesn't support it and tethering produces a 67 error and corrupts your 3g plan. Some people managed to get around this but not sure how. We'll have to wait for a ROM. Alot of folks are working hard, I hear...

got a better idea. if you are new. ASK,LEARN AND KNOW. then you can know what your doing when you STILL brick your optimus elite!!!!

Curtis: There's always a chance of bricking the phone-I know that-but in this scenario, it was minimal. We merely did the steps manually ex. instead of having a calculator doing 2+2, we did ourselves. There was no obvious reason for the phone to go on a frenzy. I'm a new member, I get that, but no need to hate. :tee:

I don't think Curtis was directing any hate your way.

It's nice to see you're willing to help others.

The only thing I would have suggested was using the "Charge only" usb connection mode.

my post was an obvious joke to ease the bluntness if crudes post, but also serious as well. read learn and know. bricking is what it is whether you are a novice of full fledged developer. you did something wrong. its no big deal really. and to be honest, the whole newb thing really is old. sorta like an old James Brown record...you hear the whaling and wish it would end but the needle keeps dropping it right back at the start...over and over again.

Okay, before this goes even more off topic and stupid, can any forum moderator reading this close this. My question is answered, and there is no need for any of this.
