Root Rooting wildfire s

I have followed this tutorial exactly and have not been able to root my phone. I have Android SDK. I have the supertool. and have done everything exactly as should be done. However my phone is not rooted.

My bootloader is unlocked with s-on.

ANy help would be appreciated?
 
Where exactly do you get stuck? How do you know you are not rooted? Have you installed Superuser? You won't be able tp enjoy rooted priviledges unless you first install Superuser
 
I have superuser installed on my phone. It doesn't recognise a root. I tried to install clockworkmod and it says there is no root and I should root the phone.

Also the supertool says that the phone is rooted and flashes multi coloured, then I cant seem to do anything that would require root.
 
Thanks, got it rooted now! My issue now is with installing the.market onto my custom Tom? I'm running cyanogen mod 7.
 
yeah well actually, you have to first download cyanogen and the gapps, the flash cyanogen, and then the gapps in recovery mode.
I did the same thing as you at first :P didn't realize you have to flash both of them immediatley. You should find the gapps in rom manager. That's where I got them from
 
do the following:
1. Download CM in SD card
2. Download the gapps in SD card
3. Enter in CMW

4. Flash the CM rom :
  • Do a factory reset, wipe the cache partition and wipe dalvik cache (under Advanced)
  • Install the rom (Install zip file from SD card)
5. Install the gapps (Install zip file from SD card)
6. Reboot
But I suggest you first take a backup of the stock rom you have (before you make any changes). In case you run into any trouble at all, you can just restore it
edit: in the CMW there is a backup/restore option. That's how you would take a back up of your rom
