Go to www.4shared.com and serch for z4root (on your phone) click on the file and when it's done downloading install it. I just used the z4root.1.3.0.apk file. Keep the Z4root App on your phone! with the file you can root it and unroot it when ever you feel like.
You may have to reboot your phone for it to install, So I would reboot the phone before going to the website and just get that out of the way.
What is rooting? Well me being some what of a noob to android all I can tell you is that it makes you the root user of the phone and gives you a superuser icon under applications. With this you can tinker with the settings on the phone.
As for me, I downloaded setcpu off the Android market and because I rooted the phone I can now change the speed of which my processor runs using the app.
It's free to root and if it wasn't easy I wouldn't do it lol and it's just as easy to unroot as long as you keep the file, or you will have to download it again.
I hoped this helps you other noobs
