Rooting z1000 series

Hello.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I didn't find a better spot for it.

I am having an incredibly horrid time trying to root my android. I have a sony walkman Z series. Z1060 to be exact. It isn't a phone. Just an mp3 player, with android 2.3.4

I have tried using Super one Click. It downloaded the driver stuff for my android, but never successfully rooted it. I tried using Gingerbreak. It cannot seem to do the trick either. Just keeps 'running' with no results. last attempt was 30 minutes long.

I also used the Chinese program, (apologies that the name escapes me). I understand it's a workaround method to getting the proper drivers for your android. It's called pea pod (or something similar) in English.

I've also used the Z 1000 series root tool (which is exactly the same as the Sony Tablet S tool). No luck. Just fails everytime.

None of these worked, so I read further and found people had success after doing a factory reset. I did so, and ended up with the same results from all programs. No luck

I do have the SD card mounted. I do have debugging on.

Does anyone know of any OTHER methods for rooting 2.3.4? The ones above just have not worked for me.

Or...can anyone think of something that I have NOT mentioned, something I might be overlooking?

Again, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Hello, and thank you for the link.

Unfortunately I've been through that process, to no avail. I did his step by step process several times. I understand it, but it just doesn't seem to be working

Is it possible that when I hook up the device to the pc, and USB storage becomes linked, then the SD storage is no longer available?

correct. when you connect the phone to the pc and you set the phone to disk drive then the sd card will be unavailable to be accessed on the phone. however, you can access it on your pc.
