Root Rooting?

[Ebadlly]

Hi,

I'm new here to this site because I just bought an LG Optimus M and I wanted to join.

This is my first Android Phone and all I have to say about this is that I LOVE androids!

But I admit that I am a noob to the whole "rooting" scene. And I have a couple questions that I hope some of you can answer.

1. What is a rom?
2. What's the difference between rooting by rom and rooting by sdk files ?
3. How can I root my LG Optimis M (2.2.1) and upgrade to 2.3?
4. Does anyone know when LG will release the 2.3 update?

Thanks

I will advice you to google it since I did mines with a help but there are 2 apps that you will need to to accomplish that as far as roms sorry I am also kind of new at this but android is the way to go.

there's a whole subforum here for the Optimus M called All Things Root. Lots of interesting stuff in there to help you.
