Root Rooting?

Looks like one-click rooting for the Inspire is getting real close over on XDA Dev. Those guys are very impressive.

Well... maybe not. Seems there was some sort of flamefest over there and the father of the 14-yr old kid who's doing the rooting(!) is threatening to pull him off the project.

Well, all this is very very new to me!! I'm practically a newborn to Android, an infant to HTC, and.....well Chinese about kernels and stuff like that....and trust me, I dont even know how to say HI in Chinese!!! Im gonna study your videos Isutigers03, and see what I can do with my phone...just kinda nervous to mess with it, its a different world to me. I WANNA MY MOMMY!!!

The Hack Kit process is basically the same on all platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows). Difficulty depends on the person doing the rooting. Head over to XDA, download the Hack Kit, read the instructions, check out the video. Only then can you assess for yourself the level of difficulty.

I can say that it's not a one-click procedure. If you at least know how to start Terminal.app and you can carefully read and follow instructions, there's nothing inherently difficult. If you can't, then there are at least a dozen ways you can seriously screw up the process.
