Root Rooting

Hi there, i tried rooting my galaxy ace (GT-S5380D). It is running 2.3.4.
So i put the upd_1.zip on my SD card that i got from here:

http://androidforums.com/ace-all-things-root/328648-galaxy-ace-root-gingerbread-2-3-3-a.html

anyways so i did everything it said to do, i went into download mode, selected update from USB, and i got this:

E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7)

So i tried a different SD card and i tried naming to update.zip.. still i have had no luck. Maybe i need to downgrade to 2.3.3? can someone provide me with a link for stock android 2.3.3 firmware that will work in NORTH AMERICA or pls tell me a solution? thank you
